There are several reasons why you may want to have your own website, and today, there are simple and affordable services to help you get started. Whatever your reason for setting up, having a website comes with the responsibility of keeping the site safe from hackers. Unfortunately, the average person believes that only big businesses and celebrities have anything worth hacking.
The truth is that every website is at risk because hackers nowadays use automated systems and bots to gain access, so they search for literally any place they find a weakness. Think of it as a burglar prowling around a neighborhood, looking for an open window so he can enter and steal without causing a stir. Hackers use any site to launch a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) or to access another site where valuable information is held, e.g., a retailer that stores credit card details. So, as you can tell, your website is attractive to these cyber bandits.
